FremantleMedia Australia produces Australia’s highest rating TV programs, including MasterChef, The Biggest Loser, Australian Idol and The Apprentice, and needed an integrated way to manage casting applications from thousands of eager participants. We designed and developed a platform using Ruby on Rails that meant all applications would be managed via a single re-skinnable interface, with the ability to add functionality over time as more budget became available.

Since its launch in late 2008, the system has received tens of thousands of applications and saved countless hours of casting agents’ time. The system is also served from a highly scalable hosting platform, allowing it to cope with large spikes in traffic when the call for applicants is promoted on TV.
