About PreviousNext
PreviousNext has been building complex digital platforms since 2009. We are an employee owned company with deep open source roots - Australia's only Top Tier Drupal Certified Partner and one of the top three global contributors to Drupal's codebase.
Our team averages 16 years of Drupal experience. We move fast, operate with a high degree of autonomy, and genuinely care about the quality of what we ship.
About Skpr
Skpr is our purpose-built hosting platform for Drupal, running on AWS and Kubernetes. It powers major government clients where security, reliability, and performance are non-negotiable.
Skpr is a growing product with an active roadmap. You will help shape how it evolves.
Responsibilities
You will join our specialist platform team operating and growing Skpr, handling everything from cluster operations to client consulting. You will also support our project delivery teams with infrastructure, performance, and security needs across multiple client environments.
This is a broad, high-ownership role. You will work closely with developers and clients, and have a direct impact on how the platform and the people who depend on it experience it every day.
What you will be doing
Platform operations
- Kubernetes cluster management, incident response, and reliability engineering on the Skpr platform
- Monitoring platform health using observability tooling including Prometheus and OpenTelemetry
- Managing security across the platform, including web application firewalls, secrets management, container image scanning, and supply chain security
- Infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform and AWS
- Capacity planning to ensure the platform handles growing and variable traffic loads
- Conducting root cause analysis following incidents to prevent recurrence
- Managing infrastructure costs across AWS environments
CI/CD and automation
- Building and improving CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, CircleCI, and GitOps practices
- Developing and maintaining automation and developer tooling to improve delivery team efficiency
Delivery team and client support
- Supporting PreviousNext project delivery teams with infrastructure, performance, and security requirements across multiple client environments
- Partnering with clients on managed services support, platform consulting, and architecture decisions
Documentation and community
- Contributing to internal documentation and knowledge sharing
- Advocating for Skpr and cloud-native practices through blog posts, talks, and community engagement
Skills
You must have:
- 5+ years hosting applications in a cloud environment - AWS in production is essential
- Hands-on Kubernetes experience in production - cluster operations, pod security, and networking
- Strong container ecosystem skills - Docker, image scanning, registry management
- Infrastructure-as-code experience, primarily Terraform
- CI/CD pipeline experience - GitHub Actions, CircleCI or similar GitOps tooling
- Modern observability skills - Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or similar
- Security fundamentals relevant to a managed hosting platform - Web application firewalls, secrets management, supply chain security
- Strong communication skills - you can work effectively with developers, clients, and non-technical stakeholders
- High professional standards in managing your own workload, keeping tasks updated, and communicating proactively
- Experience supporting development teams across multiple client environments simultaneously
Desirable:
- AWS certification (Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator)
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or equivalent
- Experience with Go - the language of Kubernetes, Terraform, and most CNCF tooling
- Working knowledge of Drupal or PHP hosting environments
- SRE practices - defining and tracking SLOs/SLIs
