The solutions
Running the project in two distinct phases, the first phase was a straight migration of the existing Brisbane City Council (BCC) site structure, design and content onto aGov.
Using agile development practices, we helped BCC focus on relaunching within the minimum possible time frame, ultimately achieved in under eight weeks.
Once the new site was live, the redesign work could commence. Taking a collaborative approach to the design process, BCC engaged a number of different design agencies to contribute concepts and pulled components from each to produce a master design they were happy to implement.
In conjunction with this redesign, our team also provided the strategic integration of social media. The new homepage demonstrated the site’s enhanced functionality by using Stackla to create feeds from BCC’s own social media channels on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
The results
The Brisbane City Council (BCC) website initially relaunched on Drupal in early April 2014, with the redesign going live in July.
aGov is no longer used by Australian government websites, with GovCMS now the preferred open source Drupal distribution.
Our engagement with BCC continued in the form of ongoing support and enhancements, with future phases of work to be carried out in time.
